What is Zinio?

Zinio is an online magazine subscription service subscribed to by the Franklin Square Public Library.  Zinio allows patrons to view magazines purchased by the Library on their computer or portable device free of charge with no expiration date.  Each magazine is displayed in its entirety complete with original page layout, images, and advertisements.

Architectural Record, Bloomberg Businessweek, Car & Driver, Cosmopolitan, Cosmopolitan en Espanol, Digital Photo, Discover, Elle, ESPN the magazine, Esquire, Everyday with Rachel Ray, Family Circle, Family Handyman, Food Network, Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Guitar Player, House Beautiful, iPhone Life, Kiplingers Personal Finance, Ladies Home Journal, MacWorld, Marie Claire, Martha Stewart Living, Maxim, Men’s Fitness, Motor Trend, National Geographic Interactive, Newsweek, PC Magazine Digital, PC World, Poets & Writers Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Redbook, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Smithsonian Magazine, US Weekly, Weight Watchers, and Woman’s Day.

Instructions (updated 1/14):

New User Sign-In:

  1. Click the icon on the right side of the screen to access the Zinio log in page.
  2. Click on the “Create New Account” link on the upper right hand side of the screen (just above the Zinio logo).
  3. Enter your 14 digit Franklin Square Public Library card number (no spaces) and select “Next.”
  4. Fill out the required fields (e-mail, password, repeat password, and your name) and click “Create Account.”

Return User Sign-In:

  1. Click the icon on the right side of the screen to access the Zinio log in page.
  2. Click on the “Log in” link on the upper right hand side of the screen (just above the Zinio logo).
  3. Enter your e-mail address and password and select “Log In.”

To Select and Download a Magazine:

  1. Log in (see new user & return user sign-in).
  2. Select a magazine you wish to download by clicking on its cover.
  3. Select “Checkout” then “Start Reading” when prompted.
  4. Sign into Zinio.  If this is your first time using Zinio, create a free Zinio account by clicking on the “Create a Zinio Account” link.  Enter your name, e-mail address and password in the form to the right (this account is in addition to the account you created when you signed in as a new user –it is recommended that you use the same information) then click “Register.”  If this is not your first time using Zinio, type in your e-mail address and password then click “Continue.”
  5. To read a magazine, click on the magazine’s cover.
  6. To return to the Library’s Zinio collection, click on the “Magazine Detail Page” tab on your browser and click on the “Zinio Magazine Collection” link located beneath the Library’s name.

To Read a Magazine That Was Downloaded During Your Last Session:

  1. Log in (see new user & return user sign-in).
  2. Click on the “Go to my Checked Out Magazines” link located on the right side of the screen, under the Zinio logo.
  3. To read the magazine, click on the magazine’s cover.

To Delete a Magazine:

  1. Log in (see new user & return user sign-in).
  2. Click on the “Go to my Checked Out Magazines” link located on the right side of the screen, under the Zinio logo.
  3. Select “Edit Your Reading List” and click on the covers of the magazines you wish to delete.  Click “Done” when finished.
