Friends of the Library
Who are the Friends of the Library? The Friends of the Franklin Square Library are a group of volunteers who work to strengthen the library's resources and provide services designed to better serve the patrons. They also volunteer at special library related events. What are they up to now? Working to support the library's service to the community, the Friends of the Library have decided to sponsor the purchase of a membership to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. This membership would allow Franklin Square Library patrons the opportunity to visit the museum free of charge. How will they raise the money? In order to raise the funds needed for this membership, the Friends of the Library are currently offering coffee, tea, and cake to attendees of the library's Sunday Afternoon Performances at the modest price of $1. Additional Friends activities are currently being discussed and planned. Want to join? The Friends of the Library are always happy to accept new members--especially those with school-age or pre-school children to help represent all segments of the Franklin Square community. Meetings have thus far been held on Thursday mornings, however, current members are open to alternating daytime and evening meetings. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Library please call Library Director Lisa Paulo at (516) 488-3444 or e-mail her at LPaulo@franklinsquarepl.org.
