Young Adult Programs

Young Adult programs are for teens who are 13 years and older.  Programs are free unless otherwise noted.  Please register at the Adult Reference desk.





Staying Safe:  Monday, June 29 at 7PM

Did you know that 1 in 3 teens experience some form of dating abuse, 56% of teens report digital and social media abuse, and that 16-24 year olds are most at risk for sexual abuse and abduction.  Don’t become a statistic!  Gain insight into the laws pertaining to sexual assault, the risk factors that lead to victimization, how to avoid dangerous situations, and where to go to get help at this lecture presented by the Parents for Megan’s Law and the Crime Victim Center.

Red, White, & Blue Sparkling Manicures: Thursday, July 2 at 7PM

Licensed nail technician Mrs. Kathy will teach teens how to manicure, decorate and take proper care of their nails, like a professional. Enjoy a fun group atmosphere and take home a free nail kit. This is a Fourth of July nail celebration and is free for teens ages 13+. Registration begins June 18.

 Summer Hackers Hour at the Library:  Tuesday July 14 and Thursday July 16 at 6PM

Learn the basics of HTML5 (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) and build your web application. This is a BYOD workshop (Bring Your Own Device – any laptop or tablet with WIFI compatibility). Registration begins July 1.

Teen Yoga at the Library:  Thursday, July 30 and Thursday, August 6 at 7:15PM

Dina of Kashmir Hands returns with her basic yoga program for teens. Beginners are welcome. All can come and relax and feel good.  Registration begins July 16.

Japanese Lanterns:  Friday, August 7 at 4PM

In this workshop you will decorate and illuminate a Japanese lantern with markers and acrylic paint. Registration begins July 1.

Curvebreakers:  SAT Tips & Prep:  Saturday, September 19 at 2PM

The SAT’s are coming in October! Get some good study tips and practice questions for free from Nicholas LaPoma of Curvebreakers Test Prep . Registration begins September 1.
