Young Adult programs are for teens who are 13 years and older. Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Please register at the Adult Reference desk.
Real Life Manners for Teens: Thursday, January 16 at 7 PM
This workshop defines etiquette and good manners as they pertain to teens and teen issues. Ms. Arely Mendoza-Cantos, founder of theAlways Gracious Academy of Etiquette and Image in Malverne will cover a variety of topics such as family manners, greetings & introductions, verbal and non-verbal communication, proper and improper language, public behavior, telephone/cell manners, being a host/guest, dress codes and interviewing for college. Registration begins January 2 with a Franklin Square Library card.
Teen Craft: Steampunk Jewelry: Thursday, January 30 at 7PM
This is a creative enterprise, fusing Steampunk style with handmade beads & hardware. Design your own unique pieces. Registration begins January 16.
Willem De Kooning Foundation: Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20 at 7PM
Through a generous grant from the Willem de Kooning Foundation, the Children’s Museum will be coming to the library for a two part workshop called, “Tracing His Steps: Exploring the Work of Willem de Kooning.” The first workshop focuses on line and form and the second workshop explores ways to paint, draw and collage. The art will be exhibited at the Long Island Children’s Museum. Registration begins February 6.
