Young Adult Programs

Young Adult programs are for teens who are 13 years and older.  Programs are free unless otherwise noted.  Please register at the Adult Reference desk.

Embossed Jewelry Making:  Thursday, January 24 at 7PM

Angela DePalma will be assisting you in creating beautiful and unique jewelry.  New techniques will be employed to give each piece an amazing finish.  Registration begins January 3.

Empowering Your Goals for Results and Achievement:  February 12 at 7PM

Life coach, Yvonne Saravia will direct you in affirming your skills and directing your goals.  This will help you to become the best you can be throughout high school, college, and life.  Registration begins January 22.

Breaking the Mold with Willem De Kooning:  February 20 & 21 at 6:30PM

This two-part workshop provides an appreciation of abstract art while stimulating individual creative expression.  The Long Island Children’s Museum and The Willem De Kooning Foundation offer this unique opportunity to sculpt, draw, and paint.  Please commit to both dates.  Registration begins February 6.

Yoga For Teens:  Monday, March 18 at 7PM

Start spring in good physical and mental shape with a yoga class.  Shelley Schubach will give you the basics for a yoga practice.  Bring a mat or towel and wear loose clothing.  Registration begins March 4.

Rock Your Chakra:  Thursday, April 11 at 7PM

Dina Giugliano of KashmirHands will take you through the chakras in yoga practice and give you an introduction to Reiki meditation.  Come and learn to focus through meditation.  Please wear loose fitting clothes and bring a towel and/or yoga mat.  Registration begins March 28.

Self Defense and A Response to Bullying:  Thursday, April 18 at 7PM

Thomas Fresta of Long Island Tae Kwon Do will discuss bullying and teach how weakness can be turned into strength.  Join him in an evening that emphasizes self confidence and self control.  Registration begins April 4.

Jewelry Making:  Embossed Charms Continued:  Thursday, May 9 at 7PM

Angela DePalma continues to wow us with charms and danglers.  These charms can be worn as traditional jewelry or hooked on to clothes, bags, etc.  Registration begins April 25.

Soap Making:  Thursday, June 20 at 7PM

Making soap is really fun and easy.  Learn the basics and create a soap basket.  Registration begins June 6.
