Marshmallow Pops:  Tuesday, January 7 at 7PM (Grades 5-8)

Mrs. Kathy helps you make assorted flavored marshmallow pops. The fee for materials is $3.00. Registration begins on January 2.

Lucky Fortunes: Thursday, January 16 at 4PM (Grades 1-5)

Celebrate Chinese New Year with the Long Island Children’s Museum.  Registration begins on January 2.

Junior Debate Team:  Monday, January 27 at 7PM (Grades 4-6)

Samantha Raggio and Daniela Viti, members of Carey’s Model U.N., are starting a junior debate team at the library. Children will learn research, organizational, writing and public speaking skills, while having fun discussing topics that interest them. Registration begins on January 2.

Just 2 Fun:  Fridays February 7, March 14, April 11, and May 9 at 10:30AM

This program is designed just for 2 year-old children, where they do simple crafts and play. Registration for all sessions begins on Wednesday, January 29.

Valentine Cupcakes:  Tuesday, February 11 at 7PM (Grades 5-8)

Pastry chef Mary T. Sydor is back to teach you more decorating skills. The fee for materials is $3.00. Registration begins on January 29.

Slime Time:  Friday, February 14 at 4PM (Grades 1-5)

Join Mad Science for experiments with polymers. Registration begins on January 29.

Sing-Along with Irv:  Friday, February 21 at 2PM (Ages 2-5)

Come sing traditional songs with Irv Plastock. Registration begins on January 29.

Snow Bunnies: Thursday, March 6 at 4PM (Ages 4-7)

Meet live bunnies and listen to stories told by an educator from the Takapausha Nature Preserve. Registration begins on February 26.

Wild in Your Backyard: Thursday, March 20 at 4PM (Grades 1-5)

Do you know what kinds of animals are living on Long Island? The people from Takapausha Nature Preserve will tell you about them.  Registration begins on February 26.

Mother-Daughter Craft: Let the Sunshine In: Thursday, March 20 at 7PM (Grades 3-6)

It’s the first day of Spring, so we’ll be making a beautiful stain glass project to let all the sunshine into your home. Each of you will be creating your own stain glass panel. Registration begins on February 20.

Magnets:  Thursday, March 13 4PM (Grades 4-7)

Johnda Ferrari will be doing experiments with magnets. Registration is on February 25.

“A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words:  Let’s Do Some Creative Writing: Friday, March 28 3:30PM (Grades 4-6)

There are many “wordless” picture books published every year. Let’s become authors and create the story behind the illustrations. Each child will share their “story” with the others in the group. We’ll discuss and compare all the different stories created from one book’s illustrations. Registration is on February 25.

I, Robot:  Thursday, April 10 at 4PM (Grades 2-6)

The Cradle of Aviation Museum will be here to introduce you to the world of robots. Registration begins on March 26.

“Emeraldalicious”  Saturday, April 12 at 2PM (Ages 3-5)

Let’s celebrate Earth Day in a pinkerrific way! We’ll do some fun activities based on the book “Emeraldalicious.” Registration begins March 26.

Operation Safe Child Program: Thursday, April 17 from 3PM to 6PM

Families who participate will receive a free, walled-sized ID card containing a child’s name, biographical information (date of birth, age, gender, height, weight, hair and eye color) and a fingerprint image of both index fingers.  Sponsored by Senator Kemp Hannon.

Spring Doughnuts: Tuesday, April 22 at 7PM (Grades 5-8)

Mrs. Kathy will help you make doughnuts from scratch. The fee for materials is $3.00. Registration begins on March 26.

Spring Craft Day:  Wednesday, April 23 from 10AM to 4:45PM (all ages)

Everyone is welcome to come celebrate Spring by making a craft. No registration is required.

Free Photo IDs for Kids:  Wednesday, April 23 from 1PM to 4PM (all ages)

Protect your child by signing him up for a free “KidPix” photo identification cards which includes the child’s picture, fingerprint, date of birth, and physical description. Sponsored by County Executive Edward Mangano.

Frogs, Bugs, and Animals:  Friday, May 9 at 4PM (Ages 4 and up)

Green Meadows Farm will bring an assortment of animals from cockroaches… to hedgehogs…to chickens. Registration begins on April 3.

Create Your Own Video Game:  Tuesday, May 13 & 27 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM (Grades 5-8)

Sharper Training will help you design a video game. Registration begins on May 1.

Mother-Daughter Craft: Memories: Thursday, May 15 at 7PM (Grades 3-6)

Together you will make a shadow box filled with memories that the two of you have shared. Registration begins April 14.

“All Aboard” Thomas the Engine Program: Saturday, May 17 at 2PM (Ages 3-5)

Choo-Choo! Chug on over to the library for some “Thomas” fun! Registration begins May 1.
