Special Programs

See each description for registration dates and any material fees which are due at registration.

Samantha Spade:  Monday, July 1 at 7PM (Grades 3-6)

Detective Samantha Spade doesn’t get the summer off…not when there is a mystery to solve!  Registration begins on Monday, June 17.

Animal Program:  Wednesday, July 3 at 2 PM  (Grades K-6)

Green Meadow Farms will be here to show a variety of animals.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27

Origami:  Wednesday, July 10 at 2PM  (Grades 4-7)

Marianne Scheblein-Dawson will teach you how to fold an origami project.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27.

Ice Cream in a Bag:  Friday, July 12 at 2PM (Grades K-6)

Make vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream.  Please bring a towel or gloves.  There is a materials fee of $1.00.  Registration for all four programs begins on Thursday, June 27.

Just 2 Fun:  Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, August 6 at 10:30AM

A program just for 2 year olds where they’ll do simple crafts and play together.  Registration begins Wednesday, June 26.

Fossils:  Monday, July 15 at 2PM (Ages 4-7)

Science teacher Johnda Ferrari will be showing you experiments with fossils.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27.

Just 2 Play:  Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, August 13 at 10:30AM

A program for 2 year olds where they will come to the Library just to play with toys, balls, tubes, parachutes, etc in our Library Meeting Room.  Registration begins Wednesday, June 26.

Father-Son Craft:  Tuesday, July 30 at 7PM  (Grades 3-6)

Fathers and sons will team up to make wooden construction vehicles.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27.

Summer Mother-Daughter Craft:  Wednesday, July 31 at 7PM

Mothers and daughters can spend a nice summer evening together making some lively crafts for both of them.  A hot glue gun is necessary, so this program is not for younger children.  Registration begins Monday, July 15.

Kane Chronicles Trivia Program:  Thursday, August 1 at 7PM

How much do you really know about Carter and Sadie Kane and their quest to discover the truth about their family and save the world?  This program will test your knowledge against others who have read this trilogy.  And, you might even win a prize!  Registration begins Monday, July 15.

Science Workshop:  Mondays, August 5-26 at 11AM (Grades 1-4)

Librarian Barbara Thompson will lead the children through four weeks of science experiments.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27.

Gnome Sweet Gnome Project:  Friday, August 9 at 10:30AM

Little gnomes, wearing pointy hats, will be traveling all over the Library on this day doing things that only gnomes will do…and have fun doing it too!  Registration begins Wednesday, July 23.

Ancient Artifacts:  Wednesday, August 14 at 2PM (Grades K-5)

The Long Island Children’s Museum will provide a sample archaeological dig.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27

Marine Mummies:  Monday, August 19 at 3PM  (Grades 1-6)

The Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum is going to teach you about underwater archaeology.  Registration begins on Thursday, June 27.

Sing Along with Irv:  Thursday, September 26 at 2PM (Age 2-5 years)

Irv Plastock will be singing traditional children’s songs.  Registration begins on Wednesday, September 4.

Family Jamboree:  Monday, September 30 at 10:30AM (Ages 6-24) and Monday, October 7 at 2PM (Ages 2-5)

Tuney Tots will be doing 2 musical programs for preschoolers.  Registration begins Wednesday, September 4.
